Healthy Shetland launch new Women’s Health Page

We are pleased to announce the launch of a dedicated Women’s Health page on the Healthy Shetland website in collaboration with NHS Shetland Maternity Department. This page has been designed to support the health and wellbeing of women across Shetland by providing a one stop shop for Women’s Health information.

This new page brings together specific condition and general information, local services, and practical support on a wide range of topics relevant to women’s health.  It has been developed to improve access to reliable guidance and to help both individuals and professionals find the support they need.

The Women’s Health page includes information and resources on:

  • Menstrual health – including periods, menopause, and related conditions such as Endometriosis and PCOS
  • Pregnancy and reproductive health – including contraception and sexual health
  • Mental health and emotional wellbeing
  • Cardiac health in women
  • Gender-Based Violence – including support services and how to seek help
  • Caring responsibilities – and the impact on health and wellbeing
  • Local services – with clear signposting to support available in Shetland

Women’s health needs are diverse and often complex. By bringing together trusted information and support in one place, we hope to raise awareness, break down stigma, and make it easier for people to find the services that really matter to them.

This page is intended for the Shetland public, as well as for health professionals and service providers who support them.
