Active Shetland Strategy

“We aim to make Shetland the most Active Community in Scotland” Active Shetland Strategy 2018-2023

NHS Shetland and its partners are working together to help people in Shetland enjoy the benefits of a physically active lifestyle. We know that regular physical activity is an important part of living well throughout all stages of life and we want to make sure everybody in Shetland has access and opportunities to get active and stay active in a way that works for them.

We recognise that to achieve wide reaching benefits and long-term change in Shetland, it requires more than a single approach, we must be aware of the wider needs of our communities, tackle inequalities, build community capacity and work effectively together as professionals and as communities to help more people to be more active.

All of the work we do is underpinned by our Active Shetland Strategy which you can find below. We are involved in a number of projects and programmes to support people in Shetland to get more active and stay active which you can find on the physical activity tab.
