Healthy Weight

It is normal – and healthy – to gain weight during pregnancy. The weight gained includes baby, the placenta, amniotic fluid and increases to blood and fluid volume. There is no specific guidance on weight gain during pregnancy as everybody is different.

Intentional weight loss, or dieting, is not appropriate as this could lead to not enough energy and nutrients during pregnancy. It is important follow a balanced diet and be physically active which will support a healthy pregnancy.
