Peerie Wanders

We are so lucky to live in a place that has great physical facilities and a beautiful landscape to walk around. There are plenty of walking routes you can try, or your local community may have a leisure centre, sports clubs or other groups that you may be interested in joining.

If you’re looking for some inspiration for walking routes, check out our Peerie Wanders. These leaflets have been designed by NHS Shetland Health Improvement Department in collaboration with Shetland Islands Council to help people be more active through walking. In March 2025, these booklets were revamped and included input from RSPB Shetland, Shetland Amenity Trust, NatureScot and Ability Shetland.
