The Shetland NHS Health Improvement Team work across the length and breadth of Shetland to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals or communities. We do this by enabling and encouraging healthy choices as well as addressing underlying determinants of health such as poverty, housing, working conditions, educational opportunities and life/work skills. We work with a wide range of partners to influence policy, service provision and wider environmental factors that help support positive health outcomes for our population, especially those in greatest need.
The Health Improvement Team strives to ensure that everyone living and working in Shetland has access to the knowledge and opportunities needed to allow individuals and communities to take more control over and improve their health and wellbeing.
As part of our work to establish the vision of health improvement in Shetland, we have also agreed a set of values which highlight the behaviours and principles that underpin our work with partners and communities in Shetland.
