Messy Slester Colour Run comes to Shetland!

Whether you’re new to jogging, a regular runner, or just prefer to walk, there are lots of fun active events to get involved with this summer - some old favourites, and a new event on a well known route!
All the events can be walked/jogged/run or a combination of these as preferred - whether you're aiming for a PB, catching up with friends, or pushing the buggy round - everyone is welcome!

Whalsay Fun Run - Saturday 20th August
Raising money for a variety of charities. Entry opens at Whalsay Leisure Centre from 10.30am. Races will be:

  • 11.15am - 10k (6.4miles) - S1 & up
  • 11.20am - Hillhead Loop (0.2miles)
  • 11.30am - 5k from Huxter (3.2miles)
  • 11.30am - Symbister Loop (1.1miles)

Mind Your Head Fun Run and Walk– Sunday 21st August
5K or 10K distances available

Registration will take place on the day at Cunningsburgh hall between 12.30-1.45 with the run starting at 2pm. (Please note this year there is no pre-registration for the fun run) Proudly sponsored by D.I.T.T. Get more info from Mind Your Head's page.

MS Society Shetland Messy Slester Fun Run – Sunday 11th September

Brightly coloured biodegradable paint powder is thrown at runners as they complete their route. Choose from 10k, 5k or 2.5k around the Spiggie Loch.

If you’ve never run before but would like to give it a try Couch to 5K is a fantastic free app you can use to guide you along the way. Couch to 5K+ podcasts are also available for those who want to build upon their couch to 5k experience and work on speed, stamina and technique. The NHS Strength & Flex programme is also available to use alongside your running.
