A Message from NHS Shetland Chair - Gary Robinson
A message from NHS Shetland Chair – Gary Robinson
NHS Shetland’s Board met virtually this afternoon to consider revised governance arrangements during the pandemic. This is important as there needs to be a framework in place to ensure that there is effective oversight of decision-making and the decision-making process during this unprecedented time. The Board will continue to meet every two weeks in this way.
Board Members also received an update on progress with various pieces of work to help prepare for potential scenarios in handling COVID-19 in Shetland. Non-executive directors sought assurance about levels of personal protective equipment for staff, the capacity and availability of testing, plans to create additional bed spaces and also what support is in place for staff across health and social care in what is understandably a time of high anxiety.
The Board would like to make clear that they recognise the significant work that has already taken place to prepare for an increase in COVID-19 cases, and wish to thank everyone across NHS Shetland and Shetland Islands Council for all their efforts now and in coming weeks.
